All of the Griffon range are successfully operated in the commercial world, from survey work and engineering support to passenger services and the tourist industry.
The main benefits of Griffon hovercraft for the commercial role are: the ability to travel at high speed over a wide variety of surfaces; the reliability and low maintenance running costs of the modern diesel engine; the simplicity but ruggedness of construction; the ease of operation and maintenance; the high degree of manoeuvrability; and the capability of fitting the craft out in a wide variety of configurations.
ENGINEERING SUPPORT
Our Hovercraft are used across the globe in an engineering support role. Wherever there are difficulties in providing vital ship to shore for engineer work such as dredging, cable and pipe laying in shallow water and marginal terrain. Griffon’s hovercraft can provide a round-the-clock solution. Not having to rely on harbours, Griffon hovercraft can be based on unprepared beach or shore line. When not providing support to offshore equipment, can offer an essential emergency rescue service.
HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEYS
All our hovercraft can be equipped with hydrographic survey equipment the Griffon hovercraft allows the operator to carry out studies in the shallow water areas, normally inaccesable by any other means. Much time is saved since the craft is not restricted by tidal considerations.
SEISMIC SURVEYS
Operating in areas which are inaccessible to conventional craft, Griffon hovercraft safely extends the areas for seismic surveys.
PASSENGER FERRY
Conventional passenger craft often have to slow down on waterways because of the amount of wash or wake they produce at speed. Griffon Hovercraft produce virtually no wash or wake at high speed, so journey times are reduced. Our hovercraft can travel on river, tidal estuaries, creek etc which are unnavigable by boat, opening services that before were unimaginable.
CARGO CARRYING
All of the Griffon Hoverwork range can be configured in a full or partially well decked format. This allows the craft to carrying a range of equipment, from drilling rigs and survey equipment to military vehicles and cranes.
