Case study: hovercraft in jungle operations

Truly all terrain vehicles, hovercraft operate best where it is difficult, if not impossible, for conventional boats to operate. This includes shallow water, fast flowing rivers & rapids, vegetation and debris therefore jungle operations pose no problem to these amphibious craft.

Griffon Hoverwork has extensive experience in designing and manufacturing hovercraft for this purpose. With more than 150 craft in over 40 countries, operated by military, commercial and SAR organizations, we can advise on the best configuration to suit your needs. The Peru Navy is just one customer that operates in the Amazon jungle to prevent drug smuggling activities along the Peruvian – Colombian borders. The hovercraft will easily withstand the humid temperatures and a sophisticated air conditioning system will allow the hovercraft pilots to operate in comfort.

In cases where the craft will be potentially operating in hostile environments, armour and ballistic protection can be fitted and we have designed craft for jungle operations as carriers, gunships and hovercraft that are interchangeable. For organizations patrolling the jungle and in need of military equipment, hovercraft provide a much more stable weapons platform than conventional craft. For non-military use, Griffon hovercraft can be fitted out as hospital crafts and carry vital supplies jungle areas otherwise inaccessible.

Another consideration of any organization operating in the jungle is environmental preservation, as these areas are often protected areas of interest and beauty. In such instances, hovercraft are the only way to travel through the area without causing damage, as they produce very little noise and almost no pressure on the ground whatsoever. This ensures that the fragile ecosystems remain intact.
