Griffon Hoverwork Ltd have embarked their most advanced 2000TD hovercraft demonstrator to the United Arab Emirates for sea trials.
The 2000TD hovercraft is part of a capability package that has been assembled by companies from the United Kingdom's BISEN consortium, supported by Her Majesty's Government, and working in partnership with UAE businesses. The systems will be subjected to trials and evaluation by UAE and British users before being demonstrated at Abu Dhabi's ISNR (International Exhibition for National Security and Resilience) Exhibition between 15-17 March 2016.

As part of their ongoing training the Korea Coast Guard conducted an aircraft crash rescue scenario, using the BHT 150 to represent the stranded aircraft.
The Coast Guards 3 x 8000TD hovercraft were then used to rescue the passengers and take them to safety. Read More
During February and March the Korea Coast Guard undertook familiarisation training on their new BHT hovercraft. The training was to improve search and rescue capabilities of large scale disasters around the five islands of the West Sea.
B.D. Yoon, Superintendent of Inchon Korea Coast Guard was on board the hovercraft and carried out the training. He directed the crew to prepare for any large scale disasters around the islands of BaekRyung-Do and YeonPyoung-Do and ordered the complete emergency response training for all crew on hovercraft H-09. Griffon Hoverwork was delighted to host David Heath MBE MP, Finmeccanica group and BISEN (British Integrated Security Enterprise Nigeria) consortium representatives from the Nigerian governement offices. The purpose of the visit was to understand how Griffon hovercraft could be introduced to Nigeria to support their maritime security and commercial needs.
The day consisted of various presentations, a factory tour, demonostration on a hovercraft and was concluded with a presentation from Professor Niyi Daniels of IIPELP to David Heath MBE MP.

In September 2013 Griffon Hoverwork supplied the Colombian Navy with three 2000TD hovercraft, with a further five to follow to combat insurgents and drug traffickers.
The hovercraft operate in the Amazon, along the rivers of Putumayo, bordering Peru and Ecuador, allowing the Colombian Navy to access remote areas of the river which have previously been beyond their reach. For half of the year the river level drops to a point where the boats cannot operate, a hovercraft however is not affected by tidal waters.

The Lithuania Coast Guard requested the services of 'train the trainer' training for their 2000TD hovercraft. Griffon Hoverwork carried out the training to train one Lithuanian Border Guard pilot to an Instructor level of competence on the 2000TD hovercraft.
Held over five days at the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, Griffon Hoverwork's Chief Pilot Robert Trussler conducted the advanced training with one student instructor and one student pilot through practical and technical assessments. Read More

Griffon Hoverwork was joined by The Indian Coastguard and Naval Adviser Commodore Sandeep Beecha, for the inspection of the final 8000TD hovercraft prior to delivery to India. This marks the end of a £32million contract spanning three years.

The Canadian Coast Guard have increased their fleet of hovercraft to ensure they have the equipment they need.
The new hovercraft named Moytel, meaning 'to help each other' is a AP1-88. It arrived at Vancouver in November and will be stationed at the Coast Guard base in Sea Island, Richmond, British Columbia. Read More
Griffon Hoverwork recently won a contract with the Colombian Navy, to supply eight 2000TD hovercraft. The first three were shipped to Colombia at the beginning of September, on time and on target for acceptance at the end of the month.

Fire fighters from across the UK came together recently to undertake a Joint Rescue Hovercraft Exercise, in Weston Bay on the Bristol Channel.
The exercise involved the British Fire & Rescue Service using their Griffon 380TD Hovercraft, to carry out various roles, such as mud rescue, causality recovery and flood rescue. A wide range of rescue equipment assisted the crews which was carried onboard the hovercraft. Read More

The Peruvian Navy are to receive the final two craft to their new fleet of 2000TD. The first craft, dedicated to training was received in August 2012. Griffon Hoverwork won a contract to supply the Peruvian Navy with five Griffon 2000TD hovercraft to be deployed in the Northern Amazonian rivers, in the enforcement role along the Peruvian border. The Peruvian Navy has operated two Griffon 2000 series hovercraft since 2009. The Indian Coast Guard received the second of two hovercraft to be stationed along the Karnataka coast. Hovercraft H-198 arrived at Panambur Beach near the Indian Coast Guard headquarters where it will be based.
The hovercraft is commanded by Commandant Amitabh Banerjee and is equipped with state of the art communication and navigation equipment. Hovercraft H-198 joins hovercraft H-196 which arrived a fortnight earlier to monitor the 320km coastline at Karnataka. The craft will undertake various tasks such as surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue and assisting small fishing boats at sea.
The team from Colombian TV network Caracol news recently travelled to the river Putumayo and had access to the most advanced river patrolling equipment in the South of Colombia, the Griffon 2000TD hovercraft.

The BHT 150 is the largest hovercraft to be manufactured in the UK since the 1970s, the 30.8m craft was recently delivered to South Korea for the Korea Coast Guard to be used in the Incheon region for border patrol, search and rescue and airport crash rescue.
The craft has a crew of 12 and can carry 188 passengers, in speeds in excess of 40 knots with a 1 m obstacle clearance. Read More

Norwegian scientists Yngve Kristoffersen and Audun Tholfsen have recently celebrated spending 6 months living and working on their ice drift station and have kept a weekly diary reporting from the Arctic.
The two scientists have accomplished a lot of work and generated relevant scientific knowledge from the seismic and bathymetric data collected with their hovercraft 'Sabvabaa'.

The Sipu Muin icebreaking hovercraft, one of just four in Canada, has been crushing ice in local waters by creating waves beneath the icy surface. The waves cause the ice to wobble and snap.
The principle is ingeniously subversive. "The ice is not flexible," Commander Lynn White told CTV Montreal. "Once the wave reaches the ice, it will break." Read More

Crowley hovercraft helps Hilcorp establish a new lifeline to Endicott, Alaska drill site
About half a million barrels of oil is extracted each day from Alaska's Prudhoe Bay oilfields. One of its drilling sites, Endicott, is located on a spit of land connected by the gravel Prudhoe Bay road system and is normally accessible by truck - until recently, when the road was washed out. Griffon Hoverwork's Chief Pilot travelled to Trios Rivieres, Quebec to conduct a 'train the trainer' course for the Canadian Coast Guard. Three senior captains from the hovercraft unit, two from Quebec and one from the Vancouver base attended the course.

Construction work of two new vessels is underway for the Southsea-to-Ryde route at Griffon Hoverwork.
The two new 12000TD hovercraft for Hovertravel are capable of carrying 88 passengers and will enter service in 2016.

Air Engineering Technicians (AETs) from the Defence College of Technical Training's Royal Naval Air Engineering and Survival Equipment School, HMS Sultan have been working hard to help prepare the Hovercraft Museum in Lee-On-The-Solent for visitors.
Taking on a number of different maintenance tasks, the group's main objective was to restore Skirts to several of the Hovercraft, including the first production hovercraft in the world, the SRN5, which had been trialled by the Interservice Hovercraft Trials Unit (IHTU) at HMS Daedalus from the early 1960s. With a collection spanning decades the Hovercraft Museum in Lee-On-The-Solent is now open to the public. The museum will be open on Saturdays and Wednesday afternoons.
The hovercraft museum is the only one of its type in the world, with a collection of over 70 hovercraft, including those from James Bond and Top Gear. The gas turbine cross-Channel hovercraft and the world's oldest operational hovercraft, the SRN6 can also be seen at the museum.
Warwick Jacobs, the museum's founder, said 'Our first day was very exciting.'
