Mangalore receives Indian Coast Guard hovercraft

Second hovercraft to be stationed along the Karnataka coast, India


The Indian Coast Guard received the second of two hovercraft to be stationed along the Karnataka coast. Hovercraft H-198 arrived at Panambur Beach near the Indian Coast Guard headquarters where it will be based.

The hovercraft is commanded by Commandant Amitabh Banerjee and is equipped with state of the art communication and navigation equipment.

Hovercraft H-198 joins hovercraft H-196 which arrived a fortnight earlier to monitor the 320km coastline at Karnataka. The craft will undertake various tasks such as surveillance, interdiction, search and rescue and assisting small fishing boats at sea.
