Griffon Hoverwork Ltd recently won the contract to supply the Peruvian Navy with two Griffon hovercraft to prevent drug smuggling activities along the Amazonian river bordering Peru and Colombia. The 2000TD model is the most popular craft in the extensive Griffon Hoverwork range, offering a payload of up to 2000kg or 20-25 passengers.
As with all Griffon hovercraft, the 2000TD operates where no boat can venture – over land, shallow water, sandbanks, mudflats, ice, snow, weed, logs, debris and rapids – making it an ideal solution in every geographical location. It will operate equally well from unprepared beaches, riverbanks and fields as it will from harbours, piers and pontoons.
Our hovercraft are designed specifically to meet the client’s needs, and in this case the craft are configured to carry a combination of troops and logistic equipment. Fitted with Radar, GPS, VHF radio and a thermal imaging system, the craft are well equipped to operate on the unchartered shallow waterways. Any hovercraft that may operate in hostile environments, can be fitted with armour protection and a GPMG/Gatling (machine gun) to offer greater protection to troops.
The Peruvian Navy are not alone in thinking that the Griffon 2000TD is the ideal model for them; it is also currently in service with the British Royal Marines (4 craft), the Swedish Coast Guard (3 craft), Finland Frontier Guard (3 craft), Belgian Army (1 craft), the Estonian Boarder Guard (1 craft), Lithuanian Border Police (1 craft) and Pakistan Navy (4 craft).
